I am a Lecturer in Spanish and Linguistics at the University of Sussex. My primary research interests are language contact, diaspora studies, sociophonetics, and language attitudes and identities.

My recent work analyzes acoustic data on onset /r/ in Puerto Rican Spanish, as well as the Asturian-Spanish language contact situation in Asturias, Spain. I am also the founder of The Virginia Corpus of Spanish Variation.

Media & community engagement

I seek to establish deeper and stronger relationships between academic institutions and local Latinx communities. For example, I was the co-host of Puentes Culturales, a bilingual radio show on WRKE during my time as Assistant Professor at Roanoke College, VA (United States).
